Lady Gaga and Fiancé Christian Carino End Engagement

Lady Gaga and her fiancé Christian Carino have ended their engagement, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

“It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” a source tells PEOPLE, adding that the pair split “a bit ago.” “There’s no long dramatic story.”

Speculation began that the couple was taking time apart when eagle-eyed fans noticed that Gaga, 32, was not wearing her engagement ring at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10. Gaga also did not thank Carino in her acceptance speech after her song “Shallow” won the best pop duo or group performance prize.

Carino did not attend the Grammys, even though Gaga has brought her former fiancé as her date to other events this awards season, including the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globes, as she’s made the rounds accepting trophies for A Star Is Born.

On Valentine’s Day, instead of sharing photos with her fiancé, the star revealed that she’d had a permanent piece of A Star Is Born inked on her body. Gaga debuted a large tattoo on her spine that pays tribute to her role in the acclaimed musical-drama.

“Happy Valentine’s Day. A tattoo toast to “la vie en rose” by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose,” Gaga wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the completed tattoo of an intricate outline of a single rose on a long stem with the words, “la vie en rose” written in script beside it.

She also got the musical notes “G” and “A” on sheet lines of sheet music tattooed onto the inside of her arm to spell out her famous moniker.
At Elle‘s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in October 2018, honoree Gaga revealed her engagement to Carino by thanking “my fiancé Christian” during her speech.

PEOPLE exclusively confirmed Gaga and the talent agent, 49, were dating in February 2017 after the couple were spotted getting affectionate at a Kings of Leon concert that year.
After ending her five-year relationship with Taylor Kinney, “she wasn’t expecting to find love with Christian so quickly,” a source told PEOPLE in October, “but things just became serious very fast. Christian is a good, grounding force and understands her career.”

Pregnant Duchess Meghan makes surprise trip to NYC: Details!

A royal excursion to the Big Apple! Duchess Meghan made an unannounced trip to New York City in the final trimester of her pregnancy, a source confirms to Us Weekly exclusively.

The Suits alum, 37, was spotted eating lunch with a friend at the Ladurée restaurant and bakery in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan on Saturday, February 16. “They were having a lovely time, laughing and talking with each other,” an eyewitness tells Us.

The mom-to-be also stopped by the nearby high-end children’s clothing store Bonpoint. (Her BFF Jessica Mulroney was in town for the weekend too, though it is unclear if they met up.)

The surprise visit comes days after Meghan and husband Prince Harry attended a gala performance of The Wider Earth at the Natural History Museum in London. She showed off her baby bump in a formfitting white Calvin Klein dress and a matching Amanda Wakeley coat at the Tuesday, February 12, event in support of Queen Elizabeth II’s Commonwealth Trust and Commonwealth Canopy.

Harry, 34, and Meghan (née Markle) married in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England in May 2018. Kensington Palace announced the retired actress’ pregnancy in October.

Meghan told well-wishers during a trip to Birkenhead, England, in January that she is due to give birth in late April or early May, noting that she and the prince want their baby’s sex to be a “surprise.”

The queen’s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter revealed to Us exclusively earlier this month that Meghan “will begin maternity leave from royal duties” ahead of her first child’s arrival. He added that the Los Angeles native is “full of energy and in good spirits” as she enjoys the “busy work schedule she has at the moment.”

However, later this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to travel to Morocco for an official royal visit from February 23 to 25. Kensington Palace said in a statement: “The duke and duchess are looking forward to the visit which will highlight the vital roles that girls’ education and youth empowerment are playing in, and shaping, modern Morocco.”
