May the 4th be with you!

star wars day

Today is May the 4th and that means that it is time to celebrate a Star Wars Day, which this year is extremely meaningful.

The tradition of celebrating came from the quote “May the force be with you” which is one of the most frequently used phrases through all the Star Wars movies, and sounds quite similar to the date May 4. For those, who didn’t have a chance to watch this legendary sci-fi franchise, this phrase is used to wish luck.
As it was mentioned earlier, this year the Star Wars Day is very special because of upcoming premier of “Solo: A Star Wars Story” on May 25 in the USA.

As a part of the celebration, here is a list of 5 interesting facts about Star Wars Universe that you might never heard about before.

1. Obi-Wan could be Japanese
Obi-Wan could be played by Toshiro Mifune – the greatest star of Japanese cinema, an actor who starred in several films of the idol Lucas Akira Kurosawa. Nevertheless, it was decided to choose the actor that is more known to the Western audience – Alec Guinness. What a pity!

2. Han Solo could be a giant green lizard
The first scenarios of the “Star Wars” were completely different from what we see on the screens now. There were Jedi armies, the protagonist Luke Skykiller, much more like princess Leia and the huge green lizard-like Han Solo.

3. Imperial Stormtroopers are left-handed
Blasters for Imperial stormtroopers were developed on the basis of the machine gun Sterling L2A3, but when the actors took them in the right hand, the store beat them on the chest. Because of the limited budget, it was decided to make them left-handed. No wonder they often missed!

4. George Lucas is on the poster “Return of the Jedi”
More precisely, his hands. On the poster depicting the hands of Luke Skywalker with a sword in the middle of outer space, not the hands of Mark Hamill are presented. Instead, George Lucas himself was the model for the poster, more accessible than the ever-busy actor.

5. Justin Timberlake almost starred in the “Star Wars”
This is almost forgotten, but in 2001 the Internet blew the news that the star will be shot in the second episode in the role of a cameo – the leader of a musical group. A sigh of relief was heard everywhere, when it became clear that this was not so. There is an opinion that Lucas was not going to do it, but his daughter, a Timberlake fan, begged him to find such an opportunity.

Man your ships, and may the Force be with you!

2019 New and Future Cars: Genesis G70

g 70 genesis

Genesis will attempt to snare its share of the compact luxury sport sedan pie with the launch of the 2019 G70, which is expected to start at around $33,000. The G70 shares much of its hardware with the Kia Stinger, including the engines—a 2.0-liter turbo-four good for 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 that makes 365 hp and 376 lb-ft. Both engines will be available with all-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, but unlike the Stinger, the G70 will have a manual transmission as an option. Although the manual is limited to rear-drive, four-cylinder-powered variants, its availability is still a pleasant surprise.

“The 2019 Genesis G70 is the car we’ve been asking for,” wrote senior editor Aaron Gold after getting behind the wheel of a U.S.-spec G70 in Maine. “It’s luxurious, affordable, reasonably practical, great to drive, aggressively priced—and you can get it with a manual trans. Every time I review a car, I ask myself if I would spend my own money to buy one. In the case of the Genesis G70, the answer is an unqualified yes.”

Next up for Genesis is a production version of the GV80 concept, which made its debut at the 2017 New York auto show. It will give Genesis an all-important crossover that will serve as a showcase of the marque’s upscale direction and advanced powertrain capability. Expect it to arrive sometime in 2019 as a 2020 model.

On sale: August-September 2018
Base price: $35,000 (est)
